Do you have to go to Mexico for RGCC testing? No. RGCC is a single specialty laboratory in Greece, and it analyzes every sample it receives there, whether the blood was drawn in Tijuana or in Oklahoma City. At Venturis, we handle the blood draw, the shipping, and the review of your report here in Oklahoma City. You don’t need a passport, a border crossing, or a week away from home.
Many people first hear about RGCC testing through integrative cancer clinics in Mexico. If that’s where your research has led you, this page explains how the testing works, what changes when you have it done in Oklahoma instead, and how to bring the results back to your oncologist.
Why people look to Mexico for RGCC testing
Integrative cancer clinics in Tijuana and elsewhere in Mexico often include RGCC testing in their programs, and many patients first come across the test through those clinics. When a test seems to be offered in only a few places, it’s natural to assume you have to travel to get it.
In fact, RGCC testing doesn’t depend on where you are. The lab works only from a blood sample, and the sample is shipped to Greece no matter where it was drawn. What changes is everything around the test: the travel, the cost of getting there, and how easily your results fit into the care you already have at home.
Mexico vs. Oklahoma City: what actually differs
| Traveling to Mexico | Venturis in Oklahoma City | |
|---|---|---|
| Lab that analyzes your sample | RGCC, Greece | RGCC, Greece |
| Passport needed | Yes, for air travel | No |
| Getting there | International travel, often through San Diego to Tijuana | Domestic flight to Will Rogers International Airport, or a drive |
| Time away from home | Often several days or longer, especially when testing is part of a program | The blood draw is a short visit, and many regional patients come and go the same day |
| Follow-up | Usually remote, across a border | In person or by phone, in the United States |
| Getting results to your oncologist | You coordinate it yourself | We send your report to your oncology team at your request |
| Cost of testing | Varies by clinic and is often bundled into a program | Self-pay, priced per case, and quoted before your blood draw |
The CDC advises anyone considering care abroad to bring copies of their medical records, to plan how they’ll communicate with the clinician, and to make sure they can get follow-up care in the United States. Keeping testing close to home makes all three easier.
What RGCC testing is, and what it isn’t
RGCC’s cancer-related panels look for circulating tumor cells in the blood. Some panels also report how those cells responded in the lab to a range of chemotherapy agents and natural compounds.
RGCC testing is a laboratory service. It does not diagnose cancer, and it does not replace standard screening, imaging, or biopsy. If you’re under the care of an oncologist, RGCC results are one more piece of information you can bring to that conversation.
RGCC also offers panels that look for evidence of certain infections. You can read more about both groups on our RGCC testing page.
How RGCC testing works at Venturis
- Free discovery call. A 15-minute call to talk through your situation, which panels may be relevant, and the cost for your case. Book a call.
- Scheduling your draw. RGCC samples are time-sensitive in transit, so we schedule your blood draw for a day when the sample can reach the lab in time. We’ll confirm the day when you book. This matters most if you’re traveling in.
- Blood draw and shipping. We draw your blood at our Oklahoma City clinic, package it to RGCC’s requirements, and ship it to the lab.
- Your report. Results usually take a few weeks. We review the report with you and explain what it does and doesn’t show.
- Sharing with your care team. At your request, we send a copy of your report to your oncologist and other doctors.
Traveling to Oklahoma City for testing
Oklahoma City sits in the middle of the country, so it’s a short trip for much of the region. These drive times are approximate:
- Tulsa: about 1.5 hours
- Wichita: about 2.5 hours
- Dallas–Fort Worth: about 3 hours
- Amarillo: about 4 hours
- Little Rock and Kansas City: about 5 hours
If you’re flying in, Will Rogers International Airport has nonstop service from many major U.S. cities. We serve Oklahoma City and surrounding areas, including Tulsa, and we welcome patients traveling from other states.
Frequently asked questions
Is RGCC testing in Oklahoma the same test offered in Mexico?
Yes. RGCC analyzes samples at its own laboratory in Greece. The lab and the analysis are the same whether the blood was drawn in Mexico or in Oklahoma City.
Do I need to stop seeing my oncologist to get RGCC testing?
No. RGCC testing doesn’t replace your oncologist, your imaging, or your standard lab work. We encourage you to share your results with your oncology team, and we’ll send them a copy if you ask.
How much does RGCC testing cost?
RGCC testing is usually self-pay. Pricing is set per case, depending on the panels involved, and we give you the cost before your blood draw.
How long do results take?
Results usually take a few weeks after the sample reaches the lab.
Can RGCC testing tell me whether I have cancer?
No. RGCC testing does not diagnose cancer. Diagnosis relies on standard screening, imaging, and biopsy through your physicians.
I live out of state. Can I still be tested at Venturis?
Yes. Many patients drive in from neighboring states, and others fly in. Start with a free 15-minute discovery call so we can plan the timing of your draw around your travel.
